Search & Rescue Opportunities

Fields that can be pursued on our SAR team

Ground Searchers

Ground searchers are the backbone of SAR teams. They actively search for missing persons in various terrains, including forests, mountains, deserts, and urban areas.

Trailing K9 & Handlers

Trailing dogs follow the specific scent left behind by a missing person. They focus accurately on the smell and detect turns or even “double backs” made by the missing person.

These dogs often work alongside the helper and remain on-lead.

Air Scent K9 & Handlers

Air-scent tracking dogs follow diffused or airborne aromas until they locate the origin of the smell. Often working off-lead, these dogs can cover large areas within a short time.

Incident Command

In a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation, the Incident Command plays a critical role in managing incident effectively. It is designated to manage the response and oversees the entire operation, ensuring coordination, safety, and efficient resource utilization.

EMT

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) works as a trained expert who provides urgent medical care in emergency situations. They are often first responders, stabilizing patients and ensuring safe transport to medical facilities. EMTs play a key role in saving lives during emergencies.

Wilderness First Aid

Wilderness first aid, or “WFA”, is a term that refers to training that focuses on prevention, assessment, and treatment for an ill or injured person in a remote environment where definitive care by a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available.
